Not to be outdone by her sister's foray into Kindergarten, Elle has changed and grown in the last week beyond my predictions.
She has doodled alongside Maya all her life. Her scribbles have always been vigorous, but rather formless in spite of my gentle demonstrations: E-L-L-I-O-T.
Then, last Thursday, she wrote a crystal clear E. And then an L. "Is that an L mom," she asked sweetly.
She learned to walk the same way. We saw how ready she was, even at just 9 months, and tried to cheer her on between us for weeks. When we let her little fingers go, she had giggled but refused to move. Then all of a sudden she was running around the room with her daddy's birthday balloons.
Last week she wrote her whole stinkin' name, when just a few days earlier she had refused any attempt. Her coloring has transformed as well, from colorful scribbles to a colorful patchwork that is more or less in the lines. I can't wait to see what she'll do next.

amazing!
I always thought right before my children's birthdays they 'aged', some odd sense they were already older, no longer that previous marker. It happens when you least expect it, one of the wonders of childhood.
Lovely penmanship and what a gorgeous horse!!
