The curtain has closed on Maya's dance class.
She performed with intense focus and boundless energy, along with a few big smiles when she took a break from her concentration.
Of course, after keeping track of her tap shoes and laces flawlessly all year, the day of the performance we realized one lace was missing. She wore ribbons in her shoes instead, and they were lovely.
Thank goodness a friend informed me that each little girl receives a bouquet at the end of her performance (who knew?!), and the fragrant white carnations she selected at Pletchers may have been the highlight of her night.
That, and her post recital frosty.
