She's Virtually 2

On Wednesday, Elliot will officially enter her tenacious two's... an age that I loved with Maya and am excited to reach with Elliot.You can virtually join Elle's birthday party with the following pictures. She celebrated happily yesterday with her grandparents.


Contrary to popular opinion, there is nothing terrible at all about a year marked with incredible leaps in creativity, curiosity, and lead-taking. Sure, we have our share of teaching moments ahead of us, from the great white throne to the proper way to let your playmate know whose turn is next, but watching Elle tell her first stories and make up her first games is satisfying enough to balance it all out.


She took her brand new baby doll to bed last night and literally introduced her to the other dolls, just the same way we introduced Elliot herself to her baby cousin Delainey: "See the baby? Isn't she sweet? Oh, be gentle. Shhh. Shhh. Shhh."


Then she started reading her baby a book.

Of course it began, "Once upon a time..." The rest wasn't all that clear on the monitor, but we look forward to deciphering the rest!
